Arvind Kejriwal - Skips Seventh ED Summon

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, Misses Seventh ED Summons; AAP Advises to Await Court Verdict

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the AAP, was absent for his seventh summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today, according to a statement released by his party. The statement clarified that the matter is currently under judicial review, with the next hearing scheduled for March 16.

"The Delhi CM and AAP National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, will not be attending the ED summons today. The matter is sub judice, and the upcoming hearing is slated for March 16. Instead of issuing daily summonses, the ED should await the court's decision. We remain committed to the INDIA alliance, and the Modi government should refrain from exerting undue pressure," the statement read.

Previously, the ED had approached Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court against Arvind Kejriwal for his failure to comply with summonses issued by the agency in relation to the Delhi liquor excise policy scam case. The complaint included charges under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for non-compliance with a legal order, Section 63(4) of PMLA for intentional disobedience of any directive issued, and Section 50, which pertains to powers to summon.

Kejriwal had also missed his sixth ED summons regarding his involvement in a case related to the excise policy, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) labeled as "unlawful," noting that the matter's legality is being contested in court.

On February 17, he had attended a virtual session at the Rouse Avenue Court following a complaint filed by the ED regarding his alleged non-compliance with its summonses. The court had designated March 16 as the date for Kejriwal's physical appearance, as reported by ANI.
