Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveils Bharat Tex-2024, the largest textiles event in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Tex-2024, the largest global textiles event in the country, at Delhi's Bharat Mandapam on Monday.
Running over four days from Monday to Thursday, the event aimed to strengthen India's textile industry and enhance its competitiveness on the global stage.
Bharat Tex-2024 is inspired by Prime Minister Modi's 5F Vision, which focuses on a holistic approach to the textiles sector, covering the entire value chain from farm to foreign markets, encompassing fiber, fabric, and fashion. The event highlights India's dedication to elevating its textile industry and fostering sustainable growth.
The event saw participation from policymakers, global CEOs, over 3,500 exhibitors, more than 3,000 buyers from 100 countries, and approximately 40,000 business visitors, as well as textiles students, weavers, artisans, and workers.
Bharat Tex-2024 featured various offerings and collaborations, including dedicated pavilions on sustainability and circularity, an 'Indi Haat,' fashion presentations focusing on themes such as Indian Textiles Heritage and sustainability, interactive fabric testing zones, and product demonstrations. The event is expected to witness the signing of over 50 announcements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), showcasing its role in facilitating trade and investment while prioritizing sustainability.
Aligned with the Prime Minister's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Viksit Bharat (developed India), Bharat Tex-2024 represents a significant step towards advancing India's textiles sector and enhancing its global position as a textile powerhouse.
